He withdrew about a stone's throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done." Luke 22:41-42

About the Author

I have been in the software development business since 1986. I work fluently in about a dozen computer languages, and as many operating systems. I am also familiar with all the hardware that goes into desktop and server computers. I have always wondered what God would do with all these skills that He has given me. Our Church Prays is the first serious manifestation of these skills for His work.

My interest in amateur astronomy drove me to create my first web site where I offer AstroHelper, a freeware program, to help astronomers find interesting objects in the night sky. I then developed the ClearSkyAlarmClock, whose second iteration will require many of the same technologies that Our Church Prayers required. As I was beginning to learn these skills the Spirit gently reminded me (like a shot of lighting) about a long dormant on-line prayer project. My church had tried an online site for this type of ministry a year ago, but it never took off and it was too expensive for our level of use. I had considered writing such a service, but, at the time, I did not know how.

With the knowledge in hand and the prodding of the Spirit, I dedicated myself to developing a site that would not only serve my church, but any like-minded church. I also wanted to provide an opportunity for the wandering soul to experience the amazing power of prayer. Our Church Prays is the result.

I believe that prayer is a major part, if not the key part, in a Christian's faith. I hope to increase the amount of prayer happening in my own small way. I have experienced the increased intimacy with God when my prayer life was healthy and the disconnect that is felt when I stopped communicating with God. I know how important regular prayer is and I want to enable people who get caught up in today's hectic lifestyle to get reminded about other's needs. I believe this can be a stepping-stone to opening up to God about their own needs. I have found that once you start to pray, you discuss things with God that you didn't even know you were concerned about.

I pray that this service can energize prayer ministries around the country and help believers become more intimate with their heavenly Father. I believe that our relationship with God is strengthened by prayer and can serve as an anchor in difficult times. With the ability to accept anonymous prayer requests, I feel we can influence the lives of people who, for one reason or another, are not ready to come forward with their needs in a more public manner. But, as God works through them in response to our prayers, they may become closer to Christ and eventually share a wonderful personal relationship with their creator.

I have not created this site with the intention of making money. I have pledged 25% of all income to Christian charity. I plan to use these gifts to, among other things, help educate believers in the power of prayer. I will use the remaining monies to improve the capabilities and reliability of the service. I'm pretty sure the Spirit is not done with me yet and he has other projects in mind that will require working capital. I have the sense that I am at the beginning of a very interesting journey.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to send me an email.

Yours in Christ,
